    Rotten Window
There are times I regret not marrying a man who is "good around the house". Or one that makes enough for me not to worry about the house. But love doesn't care about that so now I have to find someone to fix replace the window that "fell out" of the garage wall. I think it was waiting for the snow to get here. Oh joy.

Which Austen\Bronte gentleman suits you best? (+pics - 'cause the mind is sometimes lazy)

Charles Bingley from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is the one.Obviously you cherish a perfect gentleman without faults and flaws. Dark secrets, heated banter and a mysterious aura are things you consider as dispensable. His impeccable manners, his true heart and his open affection are without doubt pretty good rawmaterial. If your soul longs for a peaceful and loving companionship you picked the right one. Otherwise you'll probably die from boredom.

If I'm B positive and my sister is A positive what are our parents?

    Type B

People with B type blood are shy, calm, clear-headed smart and quiet. You have a few very close friends, but overall, you prefer to be alone. You are definately shy but loving and caring.

    Politics
As much as I really should write about the crud in my life, I think I'll just write about the crud in the political life of Michigan. I'm a political junkie. I have been since I was a kid. I guess there wasn't anything else to do in Indiana.
Any how I've been watching the gubernatorial debates. I now understand where the "guber" comes from in that word. The second debate, and I use that word loosely, was mostly pointless. I know I shouldn't expect to hear anything like a plan or a policy discussed but geesh. Mr Devos doesn't seem to be able to answer a question and I really wish someone would tell him to stand up straight. I spend too much distracted by that to listen to him. And really, "The best way to ensure that people in Michigan have insurance is to make sure people have jobs" is one of the least enlightened things I've heard. Maybe he doesn't know about the working poor. And how companies keep an employee's hours 36 and below to avoid paying insurance. And he certainly seemed to forget that his former company hires Manpower people so they don't have to pay benefits. Granholm remembered that part. She tried to make some points on policy to her credit. And Devos's comment that he called the White House to finally get a meeting scheduled with the Auto manufactures and the President was pathetic.
One more debate - I can hardly wait.

Have I complained about my neighbors recently?
I live in a nice neighborhood where people beat their children inside not outside on the lawn. Except for the other day when the teenager across the street was having issues and the mother came out of the house with a flying tackle to hold her down while she and her husband yelled at this girl. I called the police so they could drive by and let them know all the neighbors were watching this. Lord please help me to not be this parent.

Since I seem able to sleep at night
But really think I should do something with this journal, I'll start writing up my recipes. Tonight I'm making Tasty Indian Rice and Lentils

    1-1/2 cups Basmati Rice
1-1/2 cups Toor Dahl (Yellow Lentils from the Indian Food Store)
5-1/2 cups Hot Broth of Choice I use vegetarian
    1/2 cup frozen green peas
    1/2 cup chopped frozen broccoli
    Curry Powder
    Garam Masala
    Cumin
Red Chili Powder (the instant hot stuff from the Indian store)

Heat large pan then add about 2 Tbs oil (ghee, veg oil, olive oil - butter but it might burn). Once hot add rice and lentils, stir until everything is well coated about 2 minutes. Add seasoning and cook stirring well for another minute. Add broth, cover and simmer 20 minutes. Take off heat, stir in frozen veg and let stand covered for another 10 minutes.

I don't list the amount of seasoning since every time I make it, it's a little different. I use at least 2 Tbs Madras Curry Powder, 1 Tbs Red Chili Powder, 1/2 tsp each Garam Masala and Cumin. My lentils tend to be a little firm so you may want to add another 1/2 cup broth and cook for another 10 minutes.

    There goes my timer!

    Ming the Cat
He was 19 years old and Friday he went to the great scratching post in the sky. His kidneys were failing and he couldn't keep food down so we made the trip to the Humane Society to do the humane thing. They have a grieving room which I thought was really weird until I started to bawl like a baby. I cried all the way home. I'm glad the guys didn't go with me. Hubby cried when we made the decision. Ruben cried when I told him Ming had gone. Then Ruben went on to be the grief counselor and tell me all the good things we needed to remember about Ming and how much better of he is now.

Anyhow, the one male that has been with me no matter what I weighed, how much I made, or how much time I had for him is gone. And I'm sad. I'm going to blow my nose and go back to work now.

    The White Trash are Invading
OK - granted the have a house in my neighborhood so they had to have some money. All be it a condemned property that they rebuilt over 5 years. The neighbors are having a garage sale - what better way to get to know them. They only moved into the house last fall, how much could they sale? They either dumpster dive or go to the worst flea market because everything was dirty and gross. Scratch and dent stuff from stores, amazing seen only on tc rejects - ick. I really hope these "sales" don't go on all summer.

    When Hubby's Sick
I hear that it's not just my man that's bad at being sick. But this isn't a cold or something stupid. There are tests and sleepless nights waiting for test results. I don't know why I'm rambling about this - it's not as though we know what's wrong for certain. All I know is having a mopey man sucks and chicken soup doesn't help. Gee I should visit my family so I can see what's been removed, needs to be removed, or just fell off. That always makes me feel better. ramble, ramble, ramble.

    I hate my laptop
Not that it isn't operator error but I hate presentations that crash in front of a room full of people, I look like an ass and know why I don't get to ever travel. I feel like a schmuck.

    Death on the road
I've seen road kill. I don't ever remember killing anything myself but last night I saw the most horrible thing I've seen in a long time. I was taking an on ramp and there was a raccoon frantically trying to move off the road. It's back legs were crushed and and it was trying to drag itself off as cars sped past. I'm going to see those eyes in mind for a long time.

    Pain - pain, pain, pain
I broke a bone in my the top of my foot some time ago, but I have unending pain in my other ankle. What does the doc say? Wear this brace and sensible shoes. The pain meds he gave me are not enough.
I hate pain. I hate that this may not go away. I really need my feet.

    Crying Hurts
Have you ever cried so much you throw up? I never knew I could hurt this bad. Emotional hurt is the worst. I think I'd rather be slapped around than feel like this. And people wonder why I have my shrink on speed dial.

The prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said
"Do not pluck out gray hairs, for they are the Muslim's light. If anyone grows a gray hair in Islam Allah will record on his behalf a good deed for it, and blot out a sin for it, and raise him a degree for it".

Of course he also mentioned that covering the gray with henna is cool too. Well, he didn't say cool, but you know what I mean.

Is it harder to be a Mom or a Wife?
I've been puzzling over this one for weeks now. Being a Mom is a huge responsibility - for Pete's sake you can screw up someone's life. Of course they blame you and write a book and then make a mint so that does have an up side. Being a wife you have to deal with a supposedly grown man who was screwed up by his parents and you don't get an unconditional love - well not like the faithful dog kind. And being a Mom you have to live with knowing you're going to be left after you've given your heart and soul. Being a wife you may be left but you never really know for sure until it happens. Being a Mom you get refrigerator art, as a wife you get to paint the kitchen yourself (expletive).

Oh crap I think I'll just get a dog.

    Your Values Profile

    Loyalty:

    You don't really value loyalty.
In your opinion, friendship should be earned.

You'll let them (and everyone else know) exactly what you think.

    Honesty:

You value honesty a fair amount.
You're honest when you can be, but you aren't a stickler for it.

    Generosity:

    You value generosity highly.
So much so that you often put your own needs last.
There's nothing wrong with having a caring heart...
But you may want to rethink your "open wallet" policy.

    Humility:

    You value humility highly.
You have the self-confidence to be happy with who you are.
And you don't need to seek praise to make yourself feel better.
